Our Unique EGF.

EGF stands for Epidermal Growth Factor. From birth until adulthood, our bodies produce these skin-replenishing signaling proteins called growth factors. EGF plays a vital role in skin health, vitality, and appearance. as it affects our natural production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid.

What is EGF, and how does it affect skin?

EGF is one of the most important growth factor proteins in our skin and plays a vital role in the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid to maintain skin’s healthy and dense appearance.

If we imagine a baby’s skin, it is thick and plump, because it is full of EGF. When we are born – and our skin is soft, smooth, plump, and healthy – we have copious amounts of EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) growth factors that send messages to repair and rejuvenate. They are vital for maintaining healthy skin functions like the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid that help keep skin thick, dense, smooth, and firm. Once we reach maturity the natural production of EGF is already starting to decrease and already in our twenties the decline is rapidly accelerating. During menopause the depletion has become significant. This decrease results in slower cell turnover and repair, eventually affecting our skin's appearance – skin starts to sag, and fine lines and wrinkles appear.

What do growth factors do for skin?

From birth until adulthood our body produces copious amounts of growth factors, signaling proteins that affect healthy skin functions, contributing to healthy and dense appearance of skin. There are many different types of growth factors that can be naturally found at the surface level of our skin (the epidermal layer) through to the deeper dermis layer. EGF is one of the most important growth factor for healthy-looking skin, as it helps support the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid to keep skin looking smooth, thick, and dense.

What is BIOEFFECT EGF in skincare?

As already mentioned, the natural production of EGF in our skin is already starting to decrease by the time we are in our 20's. As a result, cell turnover and repair slow, eventually affecting our skin's appearance. Skin starts to sag, becomes thinner and drier, and fine lines and wrinkles appear.

Using BIOEFFECT EGF in skincare is a way of trying to help target the visible aging effects. This has been our goal from the beginning, and after over a decade of research, BIOEFFECT scientists developed a way to produce BIOEFFECT EGF. Our BIOEFFECT EGF is a sustainable, renewable ingredient produced in our ecologically-engineered greenhouse in Iceland, powered by geothermal energy.

What makes BIOEFFECT EGF unique?

The majority of commercial EGF available in the world is produced via bacteria (often E. Coli), yeast, or human/animal cells. In that process a certain biproduct, endotoxin, is synthesized. Endotoxins can have harmful effects on the human body and cause irritative skin reactions as well as inhibit the skins natural healing process.

BIOEFFECT EGF is unlike most other commercial growth factors as it is purely plant-based. Using progressive methods of cutting-edge biotechnology, BIOEFFECT scientists developed a method to produce a BIOEFFECT EGF in barley plants for exceptional purity, stability, sustainability, and efficacy. As BIOEFFECT EGF is produced in a plant it is therefore free of harmful biproducts and remains pure, clean, and effective – making it the perfect choice for clean and healthy skincare.

Results confirmed by clinical efficacy studies.

We pride ourselves on the pure science, clean formulations, and proven results. Countless in-house scientific studies have shown the skin benefits of BIOEFFECT EGF. We have conducted over 50 scientific in-house efficacy studies, lasting from 1 month up to 3 years. In the last decade, over 2,000 Icelandic women have tried and tested our products – experiencing the incredible improvements on their own skin. The results of these studies show that topical application of BIOEFFECT EGF can have a powerful and positive effect on the skin’s appearance – boosting hydration, improving visible skin elasticity and reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It has even been shown to help support skin’s natural collagen production to keep it looking smooth, healthy, and dense.
